is a multidisciplinary artist based in Los Angeles and originally from Beijing, China. With an early training in classical music composition, her practice later expanded into theater, film, and performance design.

/tsing-wen tsao/ Her work spans directing, producing, playwriting, costume design, composition, and casting, often integrating multiple disciplines within a single project. Cao’s projects explore ritual, memory, and psychological transformation, frequently blending theatrical storytelling with immersive and visual elements.
Her works have been presented in theater festivals and institutions including CalArts, Wuzhen Theatre Festival, and REDCAT. In addition to her artistic practice, she works in production and casting for film and TV in Los Angeles.
She received her B.F.A. in Experience Design and Production from the California Institute of the Arts and previously studied music composition and theory at the Middle School Attached to the China Conservatory of Music
